CIS Sites

Communities In Schools trains and places highly qualified Student Support Specialists directly into schools.  Once there, our job is to connect students and their families to basic and critical community resources, tailored to each student’s specific needs.  As a result, CIS has become the nation’s largest and most effective dropout prevention organization and the only one proven to both decrease dropout rates and increase graduation rates.

In Cumberland County, CIS serves over 8,000 students, elementary through high school, offering a range of programming and services from enrichment opportunities and parent engagement, to mentoring and career exploration.  CIS Student Support Specialists identify and bring together in one place – public schools- the resources and services students need to succeed.

We currently have Student Support Specialists at the following locations:

  • Ireland Drive Middle School
  • J.W. Coon Elementary School
  • Walker-Spivey Elementary School
